Overview

Problem

A mid-size furniture brand launching 300 products a year in a dozen fabrics and finishes needs thousands of images, and a studio shoot costs US$1,100 to US$2,900 per hero product. Samples arrive late from factories, so listings go live with flat-looking renders or no room scenes at all, and conversion suffers.

Solution

Pinewick turns a brand's existing CAD or 3D files into photoreal product shots and styled room scenes, rendering every fabric and finish from scanned material swatches. Dimensions and colours stay true to the spec sheet, merchandisers approve scenes in a review queue, and approved sets export to the product catalogue in every required size.

Target market

Furniture, lighting and home-goods brands and retailers selling online in North America and Europe, about 8,000 companies spending an estimated US$3B a year on product imagery.

Business model

Annual subscription priced by active SKUs, from US$36K a year for 500 SKUs, plus a per-swatch fee for scanning new physical materials.

Great quality, but priced for big catalogues

My agency handles three small furniture makers, and the images were better than anything we could shoot on our budget. But the 500-SKU minimum means each client would pay for far more than they need, so we only kept one on it. Textured fabrics like bouclé also needed two or three rounds of re-renders.

    Reply from Claire Fontaine, CEO

Catalogues under 200 SKUs get a self-serve plan this year, and the new bouclé scans should cut those extra rounds.

Our launch images are ready before the samples arrive

We used to delay product launches until factory samples reached the photo studio. Now our lighting and sofa ranges go live with full room scenes weeks earlier, and returns for colour not as shown dropped noticeably. The catalogue export saved our team from resizing images by hand for every channel.

Your team spotted that evening scenes drift warmer, Sofia, and that check is now part of every colour review.

Accuracy focus sets it apart from generic image tools

General image generators produce attractive rooms but get dimensions and fabric colours wrong, which leads to returns. Pinewick measures colour difference against physical swatches and keeps dimensions locked to the CAD model. Room styles still feel a little similar across brands, though.

    Efficient business with real retention

Brands that start with one collection tend to move their whole catalogue over within a year, which is what 131% net retention looks like in practice. The material scanning lab gives Pinewick an advantage that a pure software competitor would struggle to copy. Video is the obvious next step and the team knows it.
